The Swedish Coast Guard and Border Police are responsible for protecting the Swedish borders. Every yacht entering Swedish waters is obligated to submit information about the vessel, its intended stops, crew and guests onboard. The Border Police decides if border control is needed and there are specific ports where the control takes place. Generally if the yacht arrives or leaves from outside the Schengen area or in the event of crew changes. This is handled by your ship's agent and Stockholm Yacht Agency guides you through the process and handles it all.

All large yachts and ships must clear customs and report Crew`s Effect and Ship Stores via your agent in advance to your arrival.

Sweden is part of the Schengen Area and visa requirements depend on nationality. In general foreign crew and guests from outside the Schengen area need valid visas before entry. It’s the masters responsibility, but we are always happy to provide guidance.

All crew changes are reported to your agent and reported to the Swedish Coast Guard and Border Police. If required, one or multiple border controls will be organized via us at the yacht for stamping crew in or out of the Schengen area.

Generally a pilot is required for all superyachts above 70 meters inside the coastal waters of Sweden. In Stockholm, the pilotisgenerally picked up at Revenegrundet at the entrance to the archipelago. You can check if your vessel needs a pilot using Lotspliksguiden or by contacting us directly. We handle all the bookings and communication with the Swedish pilots.

Generally the government run the large ports and marinas in Sweden and these are booked via your agent.

Stockholm offers several berths right in the city center. The most popular locations include:

Strandvägen: Ideal for smaller superyachts. Located in the heart of Stockholm, Strandvägen is famous for being the most exclusive street in Stockholm. You have direct access to Stockholm’s nightlife, vibrant restaurants and shopping.

Skeppsbron: Ideal for large superyachts located in Gamla Stan (the old city) right next to the Royal Palace and beautiful historic Swedish architecture.

Stadsgården: Small cruise ship berth used primarily for very large megayachts. It’s a more private berth inside an ISPS secure area of the port, with a beautiful view of Gamla Stan and Stockholm’s inner city.

Strömmen bouy: Mooring buoy located just next to Skeppsbron and Stadsgården with direct tender access to the inner city and beautiful scenic views of Stockholm.
